The first time she appeared on the stage as a character in a 1990 production of The Big Funk (John Patrick Shanley) on Broadway off-Broadway. She was then cast for her first TV role, The Perfect Tribute. In 1992, she earned her big break by being a part of the movie Basic Instinct as a minor character. The Firm was the film that made her the main female for the first and sole time. The film was in competition with Tom Cruise, Gene Hackman as well as others. The 90s saw her working alongside some of the top actors in Hollywood, like Gwyneth Paltrow and Hugh Grant. She portrayed the role of Dr. Alex Blake on the famous international drama Criminal Minds.
